Army ROTC Course Challenges

Submitted by frankrs on

Each year, cadets compete in some of the most grueling challenges, putting their endurance and skills developed in ROTC to the test. Highlights from this year include the Army Ten-Miler, Bataan Memorial Death March, and Northern Warfare Challenge.

Army Ten-Miler

"I had never raced at that distance before, and adapting from a cross country 5k to a ten-miler was an exciting new challenge, reminding me of the importance of delayed gratification. I am incredibly grateful to Mizzou Army ROTC for providing us the opportunity to participate in events like the Army Ten-Miler with the greater military community. It was inspiring and motivating to be around so many service-minded individuals in our nation's capital. I hope to participate again next year!" -CDT Mia Scharpf

Bataan Memorial Death March

Bataan Memorial Death March

"Bataan was one of the hardest things I've ever done not only in my ROTC years but one of the hardest things I've done in my life. Bataan is a not a traditional marathon, it's designed to be one of the hardest ruck marches a person can do with 4,000 FT elevation change in the middle of the desert. It's one of the most humbling experiences a cadet can do and I'm so thankful for the experience."

Northern Warfare Challenge

"It was an experience of a lifetime. Persevering through extreme cold and rough terrain was a challenge that not only made me a better cadet but also a better leader. However, the best part of it all was working with my team and building memories that will last a life time." -CDT Grant Metz
